15th edition of PriFest to open with “The Land Within” by Fisnik Maxville

PriFest, the Prishtina International Film Festival, is gearing up for its 15th edition, scheduled to take place from September 12 to 17, 2023. The festival promises another exciting lineup of international and regional cinema, but all eyes are on the opening film, "The Land Within," by Fisnik Maxville.

The film is a poignant exploration of family, identity, and truth, set against the backdrop of post-war Balkans.

Fisnik Maxville, a Swiss film director and writer, was born in Kosovo and sought refuge in Switzerland until 2005. His talent was recognized early on with his short fiction "Lost Exile," which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and received a Jury Award.

"The Land Within" is a collaborative effort, with co-producers Thomas Reichlin, Britta Rindelaub, Valon Bajroga, Yll Uka, and Agon Uka contributing to the project's success. Fisnik Maxville himself also played a role in writing the screenplay, along with Mathilde Henzelin. The film boasts impressive cinematography by Yann Maritaud and editing by Kostas Makrinos. Long list ot Kosovan actresses and actors is lead by Florist Bajgora and Luana Bajrami. The complete cast comprises of: Luana Bajrami, Florist Bajgora, May-Linda Kosumovic, Fisnik Maxville, Çun Lajçi, Era Balaj, Armend Smajli, Luan Jaha, Don Shala, Valmir Krasniqi, Urate Shabani, Arta Muçaj, Allmir Suhodolli, Joëlle Fretz, Irena Aliu, Brent Rexhepi, Vincent Rime, Hélène Hudovernik, Frédéric Steimer.

The opening film of PriFest holds special importance, and "The Land Within" will captivate the audience with its emotional depth and powerful storytelling. PriFest Director, Fatos Berisha, stated on this occasion: "We are delighted to open this edition with a kosovan-swiss film, especially one that has already been recognized in A category festivals."
