Meet the Jury of Short Films Competition Program - Čedomir Kolar, Academy Award winning producer; Blerta Basholli, screenwriter and director, tripple winner of Sundance FF; Xavier Henry-Rashid, founder of Film Republic, a London based film sales agency.
13 films from 10 countries from around the globe, selected with the contribution of Norika Sefa, will compete for the main prize.
The selection includes 2 International Premieres, 1 European, 1 Regional and all of them will have Kosovan Premieres at PriFest.
Cedomir Kolar was born in former Yugoslavia, in the city of Rijeka on the Adriatic coast of Croatia. He graduated in film production at the Belgrade Academy of Dramatic Arts. Since 1991, he has been acting as producer for “Noé Productions” in Paris. His credits include “Before the Rain” by Milcho Manchevski, “Africa my Africa” and “Kini and Adams” by Idrissa Ouedraogo, “As you like me” by Carmine Amoroso, “Train of Life” by Radu Mihaileanu, “The Adopted Son” and “The Chimp” by Aktan Abdykalykov,“No Man’s Land” by Danis Tanovic and Danis Tanovic’s short film in the collection of films “11’09”01-September 11”, produced by Galatée film and Studio Canal. 2003 he started the new Paris based production entity, “A.S.A.P. Cedomir is the Academy Award nominee (“Before the Rain” by Milcho Manchevski) and the Academy Award winning producer (“No Man’s Land” by Danis Tanovic).
Blerta Basholli is a Writer/Director with a unique realistic visual style. Her stories touch upon social and gender issues from the country where she was born and raised, Kosovo. In 2008 she was awarded with the Deans Fellowship at the Film Graduate Program at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. She lived in New York City for four years where she had the opportunity to work on several film projects as a student. Her short film LENA AND ME screened and was awarded at the First Run Film Festival 2011; Dokufest 2011; Skena Up 2011; Tirana International FF 2011; Pogradec Food and Film Festival 2011; 9/11 Film Festival 2012 (Best Actress Award). Her short film GJAKOVA 726, 2008, was shown at the Rotterdam Film Festival 2009 shorts program, Busho Film Festival 2009– official selection, Doku Fest 2009 - official selection 2009, Toffifest 2009- official selection, FilmmorWomen's Film Festival 2009 - official selection. Her documentary MIRROR, MIRROR…, 2006, was officially selected at the Sarajevo Film Festival 2006; New York International Independent Film and Video Festival 2016; Tirana International Film Festival 2006; Balkan Black Box Film Festival 2006, Berlin. In 2011, she returned to her birthplace where she wrote/directed and worked on many short and feature films. HIVE is her debut feature, which she has developed since 2011. Recently HIVE won three awards at the Sundance FF.
Xavier Henry-Rashid is the founder of Film Republic, a London based film sales agency specialising in world cinema and feature documentaries. Amongst its lineup, Film Republic includes the works of directors including Pirjo Honkasalo, and the Oscar entries by Peter Bebjak and Adrian Saba. Xavier previously worked as a freelancer journalist and photographer, and in various festival roles including at Sundance London, Raindance Film Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest and the East End Film Festival.
