28.08.2025
The 17th edition of PriFest opens with the world premiere of the film “Bear Hug” by director Ilirjan Himaj, kicking off the festival with a powerful and moving story from Kosovo and Albania.
The film is part of the festival’s main competition program, which will showcase a diverse and captivating lineup of stories from across the Balkan region through feature-length films.
The film is about Agu, a bear sanctuary guardian who sees his world overturned the night he visits his girlfriend. Lost and without a way out, he finds a resurgence of life when Tina, a young charming woman with many dreams, magically appears in the neighboring apartment. Her aspirations to become a singer have trapped her in the clutches of a ruthless statesman. Moved by her plight, Agu devises a plan to rescue Tina from the statesman’s grasp, and together they flee into the wild. Like a bear and a doe, they seek freedom beyond the laws of men. However, a hunter with keen instincts pursues them. The boundaries between man and beast blur, and the instincts of survival take control.
“Bear Hug” explores themes of survival, love, and the struggle for personal freedom, blending drama and suspense in a story that is both intimate and epic. In 107 minutes, the audience will witness the wonderful performances of actors Valmir Krasniqi, Era Balaj, Agron Shala, Astrit Kabashi and Teutë Krasniqi. The latter is also the producer of the film, while Ilirjan Himaj has contributed as both director and editor of the film, with Latif Hasolli engaged as DOP.
PriFest runs from 09-14 September 2025 at Kino Armata in Prishtinë.
