We present the members of the jury for the competitive short film category at PriFest.
BLERTA BASHOLLI
Blerta Basholli is a screenwriter/director with a unique, realistic visual style. Her stories address social and gender issues from her homeland, Kosovo, and beyond. Her debut film "Hive" (2021) broke records at Sundance, where she won the Grand Jury Prize, the Directing Award, and the Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic category, becoming the first film in Sundance Film Festival history to win all three of these awards. In 2008, she was awarded the Dean’s Fellowship at the Film Program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She lived in New York for four years, where she had the opportunity to work on several film projects as a student. In 2011, she returned to her hometown and has since worked on many short and feature films.
MICHAEL PENTNEY
Producer Michael Pentney from the United Kingdom has worked on films across various genres, focusing on themes with emotional and social tones. Recently, after adopting two young children, he has developed an interest in the composition of society and the impact our environments have on our feelings and actions. In addition to film production, he is part of the management team at one of the UK’s oldest and most successful post-production companies.
AMERNIS NOKSHIQI
Armenis Nokshiqi is a renowned actress at the Albanian Theatre in Skopje, with many successful roles in both film and theater. Among her recent projects are the films “The Silence of the Sirens” and “An Unforgettable Spring in a Forgotten Village.” Awarded numerous times across the region, Armenis continues to excel in both theater and film.
The 16th edition of PriFest will take place from September 10-15, 2024, at Kino Armata.
