MEET THE JURY OF THE MAIN COMPETITION CATEGORY

We introduce the jury for the feature films from the Balkans, the main competition category at PriFest. The jury consists of filmmakers and high-level professionals from the European film industry.

PAUL WILMSHURST
Paul Wilmshurst is a British director and screenwriter who has worked in the film and television industry for over 40 years. His projects include 'Day of the Jackal,' 'Belgravia: The Next Chapter,' 'The Last Kingdom,' 'Doctor Who,' 'Strike Back,' 'Jamestown,' 'Indian Summers,' 'Da Vinci's Demons,' 'Combat Kids,' 'Runaway,' 'Mob Law,' and 'Hiroshima,' which won an International Emmy Award and a BAFTA in 2006. He wrote and directed 'Forgiven,' which aired on Channel 4 in August 2007, winning a Royal Television Society Award for Best Drama Editing, being nominated for a Broadcast Award for Best Single TV Drama, and winning an International Emmy Award for Best Actress. 'Combat Kids' was also nominated for a BAFTA for Best Children's Drama. Before focusing on high-end drama, Paul spent many years as a documentary filmmaker, exploring stories of duties, obsessions, identity, crime, and politics. He has traveled extensively throughout his life and is drawn to psychologically complex and logistically challenging projects.

EMMA CLARKE
Emma Clarke was an Executive Director for 14 years, initially at Fine Line Features, where she established and led their London office for four years. She then co-founded the UK Film Council (now BFI) from 2000 to 2010. She personally oversaw the development and production of over 50 feature films and documentaries, many of which won numerous awards, including Baftas, the Cannes Jury Prize, and the Silver Bear at Berlin. She has been dedicated to finding and developing new talents, especially female writer-directors. She has worked with Andrea Arnold, Kevin Macdonald, Shane Meadows, Sally Potter, Sarah Gavron, John Crowley, Saul Dibb, and Paul Greengrass, among many others. Emma has also worked for New Line Cinema, heading their feature film office in London. She designed and directed a highly successful screenwriting master's program at the University of Manchester for six years, which has led many students into the industry as writers and executives. From 2021 to 2022, she was the Drama Director at Filmwave, London. She now runs Stellar Productions, developing high-quality film and television projects.

JEAN-BAPTISTE BAILLY-MAITRE
Jean-Baptiste Bailly-Maitre is a producer who has spent many years working on international projects. He has extensive expertise in film grants in France and Europe and is a member of the CNC commission for Aide au Cinéma du Monde. He has been responsible for the financing and management of Alpha Violet for over 10 years and develops the production of new projects.

VIRGINIE LACOMBE
Virginie Lacombe has produced "The Other Son" (2012), directed by Lorraine Lévy, the documentary "Faith Connections" (2013) by Pan Nalin, and the comedy "Blockbuster" (2018) by July Hygreck, distributed by NETFLIX. She co-produced "Mobile Homes" by Vladimir de Fontenay (Cannes Director’s Fortnight 2017), "Port Authority" (Cannes - Un Certain Regard 2019), executive produced by Martin Scorsese, "Last Film Show" by Pan Nalin (Oscar nominee 2023), and "Tommy Guns" by Carlos Conceição (winner of 2 awards at the Locarno Film Festival). She is currently developing several other projects, including "The Wind Also Sings" by Handi Ghandour, "She’s Not Gone" by Micky Levy, and "Borough Park" by Michale Boganim.

GEORG GEORGI
Georg Georgi is a versatile professional from Jena, East Germany, a place that no longer exists, with expertise in dance, fashion, and media. He co-founded Berlin Models and M4 Models and has created important show formats. He currently divides his time between developing an artist residency in Portugal and Berlin, advising international film projects, and participating in film festivals.

The 16th edition of PriFest will take place from September 10-15, 2024, at Kino Armata.
