Meet the Jury of Medium-Length Films Competition Program:
Petar Protić, programmer and film critic;
Pavlina Jeleva, film critic and producer;
Armend Smajli, actor.
Our unique category of PriFest this year consists of 8 films. Four of them will have Regional Premieres in Prishtina, while all of them will be Kosovan Premieres.
Petar Protić (1967) is Senior Librarian at the Faculty of Sport and PE University of Novi Sad and lecturer at the Faculty for Digital Production of EDUCONS University in Sremska Kamenica. He is teaching History of Cinema to the Bachelor graders and Esthetics of Cinema to the Master Studies.
Protić was programmer and editor to the Cinema City International Film Festival in Novi Sad (2007-2018). His main programme at the Festival consist first films of young movie authors from around the World.
He was Jury member at Prishtina IFF 2019.
He writes critics and essays for regional film portals and magazines, because he love the power of stories that must be seen for the better state od humanity.
Pavlina Jeleva, is a film critic and producer based in Sofia, Bulgaria.Graduated in Film Studies from The National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts she worked as publicist for different cultural publications. In 1993-1994, she was both Bulgaria’s National representative at Eurimagesand President of the Bulgarian Film Critics Association within FIPRESCI. In 1995, she co-founded Geopoly, which produced over 10 features and nearly 50 documentaries. In 1999, she became correspondent toVariety International Film Guide; since 2007, she is Bulgaria’s correspondent to the online publication Film New Europe. In 2014, she founded her second company, Geopoly Film. One of Geopoly’s latest successful co-productions was Egle Vertelyte’s Miracle(Lithuania/Bulgaria/Poland) and Geopoly Film’s - Bojan
Vuletic’s Requiem for Mrs. J (Serbia/Bulgaria/North Macedonia/France/Russia).
Armend Smajli is an actor from Kosovo who has graduated from the Academy of Arts at the University of Prishtina. He has performed in some of the most successful films in the region. Armend is known for playing the lead in "The Flying Circus" (2019) which has been presented at "Talinn Black Nights Film Festival", "Babai" (2015) winner of two awards at Karlovy Vary Film Festival, "Hive" (2021) winner of three top awards at Sundance Film Festival. Moreover, he has been part of many short and feature films that were presented at reputable film festivals and award ceremonies including: "BAFTA" and "Warsaw Film Festival.
Armend is also a resident actor at the National Theaterof Kosovo, being part of many regional theaterperformances with directors like: Dino Mustafic, Andras Urban, Fatos Berisha, Blerta Neziraj, Slobodan Unkovski, Miki Manojlevic, Matthew Lenton etc.
