Film “Man of the House” to Close PriFest

The film written, directed, and produced by Andamion Murataj, portraying the deep human and social conflicts within Albanian society, will close the 17th edition of PriFest as a regional premiere.

The story follows Fran, a woman who has chosen to live and celibate life as a man, following the tradition of the Albanian Virgins. In order to become a mother to her motherless niece, Fran must make the difficult decision between maintaining her status of "manhood" or giving it up and reconnecting with the maternal feelings she has long suppressed. When the time comes to move forward in life, her niece’s own choice forces Fran to confront her deepest fears by choosing between the desire to keep the child close or to give the young girl wings.

Featuring a powerful cast including Drita Kaba Karaga, Alesia Ruçi, Bislim Muçaj, Astrit Alihajdaraj, and Armond Morina, this film unfolds as a quiet yet powerful drama, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and feel.

“Man of the House” will close PriFest on September 14 with a deeply emotional and socially resonant story. It is a co-production of six countries – Albania, Kosovo, Italy, Austria, Croatia, and North Macedonia – with Ismet Sijarina as the Kosovar producer.

PriFest takes place from September 9–14 at Kino Armata in Prishtina.
