PriFest reveals first line-up of the program!

Prishtina International Film Festival publishes some of the film titles which will be screened during the 10th edition of the festival, in one of the most important programs:

EUROPEAN FEATURE FILM COMPETITION

European Feature Film Competition Line-up 2018:

The competition program dedicated to the earliest cinema tradition, the European one. This edition comes with titles that have not simply attracted the attention of filmmakers and critics, but have brought new spirit to filmmaking. This year, PriFest reveals a list of six feature films that are competing in this category to with the Golden Goddess award for the Best European Film.Intriguing, brave, entertaining, melancholic, traditional and sexy.The selection of this category will give the PriFest’s audience opportunity to enjoy the most prominent European cinematic innovations in the last two years.

“FOAM AT THE MOUTH “

After losing his leg, ex-cop Didzis focuses on training his three beloved police dogs. His estranged wife Jana, a doctor at the local sports school, seeks romantic fulfillment with Roberts, a seventeen-year-old student and a promising swimmer. After a secret nighttime rendezvous, Jana hits a rabid wild boar with her car and eventually spreads the virus to Didzis' three dogs.

The accident ignites dark suspicion and jealousy in Didzis. Busy with finding and punishing Jana's secret lover, Didzis overlooks the ever-growing strangeness and aggression in his three beloved but not infected dogs. Just as the love triangle becomes toxic, the three rabid dogs escape and threaten the local town. Facing both a personal and professional fiasco, Didzis decides to take the matter in his own hands.

“I WAS A DREAMER”

Mirko is back home after 8 years spent in jail. He wants a second chance, dreaming for a fresh start, leaving violence and crime behind once and for all. He aims to win back the love of his two daughters, to start over with his wife and finally do something good for himself. An unexpected opportunity arises when he's surprisingly elected President of a Social Association of his neighborhood, an almost forgotten area in the outskirt of Rome. He puts all his efforts in it: he manages to organize a soup kitchen and to offer a real job to the outlaws of the area by transforming an abandoned piece of land in a flourished tomato field. But once you've been a criminal for so long, spreading so much grief and sorrow, it's incredibly hard to infect people around you with good and happiness.

Abu Shadi is a divorced father and a school teacher in his mid-sixties living in Nazareth. After his daughter’s wedding in one month he will be living alone. Shadi, his architect son, arrives from Rome after years abroad to help his father in hand delivering the wedding invitations to each guest as per local Palestinian custom. As the estranged pair spend the day together, the tense details of their relationship come to a head challenging their fragile and very different lives.

“WHEN THE TREES FALL”

The story of a five year old little rebellious girl Vitka with her teenage cousin Larysa and her boyfriend, the young criminal Scar unfolds in a Ukrainian provincial setting. Larysa finds herself at a crossroads after the death of her father. Yearning to be self made, the village community ostracizes her for loving Scar. Larysa discovers her grandmother once sacrificed her love for a young gypsy abandoning him for traditional values and other people's opinions. Larysa's mother is too psychologically weak to support her daughter. Larysa and Scar plan to escape from a life of crime, misery and their relatives. But are they ready to pay the full price for freedom?

Written and directed by Daniel Kokotajlo, a former Jehovah’s Witness, 'Apostasy' is a remarkable and authentic debut film, providing rare insight into the complex nature of faith, family, duty and love.
